Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror had the first gold coin minted in the name of himself in 1467. This coin with 3 times the original size,  gold  plated  on bronze  with 60 mm.  Diameter and  10,5 mm.  thickness is  at the center of a   85 mm  outer diameter, 4 mm thick silver oxide-plated bronze frame with the writing "FATİH SULTAN MEHMET TARAFINDAN BASTIRILAN İLK ALTIN PARA/1467 DARPHANE'NİN KURULUŞU" (The first gold coin minted with the order of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror/1467 Foundation of the Turkish Mint) embossed on it. Silver oxide-plated brass feet joins the upper part of the statue to the marble base. Two sides are identical.
